MATT SLAYS

Matt Slays, born Matt Roy Yoakum on July 17, 1980, in Pueblo, Colorado, is a multifaceted American YouTuber, musician, songwriter, and producer. He is widely recognized for co-running the popular YouTube channel Matt and Rebecca alongside his wife, Rebecca Zamolo. Their engaging content, which includes family-friendly vlogs, challenges, and music videos, has garnered them a substantial online following.

🎓 Early Life and Education

Matt grew up in Pueblo, Colorado, and attended Vanguard High School in Colorado Springs. He later pursued higher education at Western Oregon University, graduating in 2004. During his teenage years, Matt developed a passion for music, joining a boy band named Townsend in the San Francisco Bay Area. His early experiences in music laid the foundation for his future career in the entertainment industry.

Before his rise on YouTube, Matt worked in sales for Hilton Hotels from 2003 to 2009. However, his passion for music remained strong. Matt met Rebecca Zamolo during a music video shoot, and the two began dating in 2002. After a decade-long relationship, they got engaged in December 2012 and married on May 17, 2014. 

The couple welcomed their first child, a daughter named Zadie Hope, on February 23, 2022. In early 2025, they announced they are expecting their second child via surrogacy, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to expand their family.
